What this page covers

MIND CRON is free to read and paid for by display advertising, which means information about your visit passes through more hands than a reader might expect. This page names those hands by category, says what they receive, explains the laws that give you rights over it, and tells you how to stop most of it. It is written for an international audience in plain words.

You do not have to give us anything to read a story. There is no account, no registration wall and no email demanded before a breaking update. Most of what is collected is a record of requests and pages rather than a file about you.

What we collect, and what we do not

Web servers keep logs whether or not anyone wants them to. Our host and delivery network record the IP address that made each request, the browser it reports, the page asked for, the page you came from and the time. That is how we tell a real surge of readers on a big story from a script hammering the site.

On top of that sit analytics, which count readers and pages, and whatever you choose to put in an email to us. The advertising network that fills our banner units sets its own identifiers to cap how often you see the same advertisement, measure viewability and detect fraud, and, where you have agreed, to choose advertisements from a profile built elsewhere. We do not run device fingerprinting, we do not ask for precise location, and we collect no payment details because there is nothing to buy here.

Why we process it

The purposes are few: serving the site and keeping it online when a story multiplies traffic in minutes, counting readers so a small team can see what is actually read, serving the advertising that is the site’s only revenue, and detecting abuse and invalid traffic. Beyond that we answer your mail and keep the narrow records the law requires.

Nothing here feeds a decision about a person. We do not score readers or profile them for our own purposes, and we do not decide who sees which story based on who they are.

The laws that apply, in plain terms

Because our readers are spread across the world, more than one privacy law can reach a visit to this site, and we honour each of them without claiming a base in any particular jurisdiction. If you are in the European Union or the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation, the GDPR, applies. If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR applies and gives you very similar rights. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, the CCPA and CPRA, applies. Other countries and states have their own laws, many modelled on one of these.

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, the legal bases we rely on are consent for analytics and personalised advertising, legitimate interest for server logs, security and aggregate measurement, and legal obligation for the small remainder. Withdrawing a consent costs you no articles. Under the CCPA and CPRA, serving personalised advertising counts as sharing your personal information, and we treat it as exactly that rather than arguing about the word.

Who receives data, and where it travels

We list recipients by category because the specific companies change: our host and delivery network, our analytics provider, the advertising network and the demand partners bidding through it, and, rarely, a professional adviser or an authority acting on a valid legal order. Your email address is never sold, rented or swapped, and we never identify a source to anyone.

These providers run servers in more than one country, so your data is processed outside the country you are sitting in. Where data covered by European or UK law crosses a border without an adequacy decision, the transfer runs on standard contractual clauses or another mechanism those laws approve.

Cookies and the consent choice

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and remember the answer you gave at the consent banner. Analytics and advertising cookies wait for your consent where the law requires it, and refusing them removes nothing you came here to read. The categories, who sets them, how long they last and how to change your answer are in our cookie policy. The banner reopens from the footer of every page and your new answer replaces the old one.

Your rights, and how to use them

Depending on where you live, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected, deleted or restricted, object to processing we run on legitimate interest, withdraw a consent you gave earlier, and receive what you provided in a portable form. You can complain to your own data protection authority without coming to us first. Write to support@mindcron.com with PRIVACY at the front of the subject and we answer within the period your law allows, usually one month.

One limit, stated plainly. When a request is really an attempt to remove or rewrite published journalism, most privacy laws carve out journalism, and we treat the matter as a question of accuracy. If a story is wrong about you, that is a correction, and our corrections policy says what happens next.

California and other US state rights

If you are covered by the CCPA and CPRA or a similar state law, you can know what we collect and disclose, have it corrected or deleted, opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, limit the use of sensitive information, and not be treated worse for exercising any of these rights. We take no money for handing over personal information to anyone. Use the Do Not Sell or Share control in the consent manager; we also honour the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser.

How long we keep things

Server and delivery logs are kept for around thirty days and then discarded or reduced to counts with no identifier attached. Analytics data is capped in the provider’s settings at fourteen months. Email you send us is kept while the matter it concerns is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. Aggregate reports that identify nobody are kept indefinitely.

Children

MIND CRON is a general-news site for adults. Some sections, gaming and entertainment among them, interest younger readers, but the site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age set by your local law. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us something, write with PRIVACY in the subject and we will delete it and confirm.

Changes, and where to write

When this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date below moves and a short note sits at the top of the page for a while saying what changed. Where the law requires fresh consent, we ask again. The rules for using the site itself are in our terms of service. Everything here routes to support@mindcron.com, and other ways to reach us are on our contact page.
