Pixel 10’s UK Black Friday Cut Followed an Old Script

Amazon UK sold the 128GB Google Pixel 10 for £599 in the November 2025 Black Friday sale, £200 below its £799 launch price. That is a 25% cut on a phone that had been on sale for 88 days. The 256GB Pixel 10 was £799, and the Pixel 10 Pro 256GB sat at £999, only £100 under its £1,099 ticket.

A year earlier, the Pixel 9’s first UK holiday cut had been £100 on every model. The base Pixel 10 broke that habit. The Pro did not.

£200 Off the Phone That Just Got Zoom

Google unveiled the 10th generation of Pixel phones on 20 August 2025, with UK shelves opening on 28 August. The 128GB Pixel 10 launched at £799, the 256GB at £899, the Pixel 10 Pro 128GB at £999, and the Pro 256GB at £1,099. The Pixel 10 Pro XL 256GB opened at £1,199.

By 24 November, Amazon UK’s Black Friday window had carved those tickets in two different ways. The new telephoto base took the deep cut. The Pro, still the camera phone Google wanted to protect, took the shallow one.

The 128GB row is the one that moved. Storage uplifts did not. Paying £200 extra for 256GB on the base phone bought you only £100 of sale relief, which is why the 128GB listing did all the work in deal posts that week.

The Pixel 10 Pro Repeated Last Year’s Playbook

On 16 November 2024, Amazon UK’s early Black Friday pass took £100 off the then-new Pixel 9 line across the board. Google did not train British buyers to expect a 25% flagship dump three months after a Made by Google show. It trained them to expect a round £100.

The Pixel 10 Pro landed on that same round number. £100 off a £999 128GB Pro is 10%. US listings the same month took the Pro to $749 from $999, a 25% cut, so the shrug was a UK problem more than a product problem. In the same Amazon UK sale, the Galaxy S25 Ultra carried a £250 discount, which made a £100 Pixel Pro trim look even thinner if you shop on silicon.

Google’s own store ran a parallel Black Friday window with the same split on the sticker: £200 off the 128GB Pixel 10, £100 off the Pro. Amazon was not freelance-discounting a phone Google still wanted to hold. It was matching the script.

That script has a loser. Anyone who needed the Pro cameras, 16GB of RAM, and the sharper Super Actua panel paid almost full freight for a three-month-old flagship. Anyone who could live with 12GB and the new zoom on the base phone got the only aggressive new-Pixel ticket of the week.

A Telephoto Finally Sat on the Cheap Pixel

The base Pixel 10 is the first non-Pro Pixel with a proper zoom camera. Google’s spec sheet lists a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto lens with optical image stabilization, 5x optical zoom, and Super Zoom up to 20x, sitting beside a 48MP 1/2-inch wide camera and a 13MP ultrawide. Previous cheap Pixels asked you to crop. This one has a third lens.

The Pro still wins the camera argument if you care about sensors. It uses a 50MP 1/1.31-inch main, a 48MP 5x periscope, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 42MP front camera, plus Pro Res Zoom up to 100x. The £100 gap between a sale 128GB Pixel 10 and a sale Pro is not a rounding error on glass. It is a different camera stack.

On almost everything else, the £599 phone is the louder hardware story. Its typical battery is 4970mAh, larger than the Pixel 10 Pro’s 4870mAh pack. Google rates it for 24+ hours, with a 30W brick taking the cell to 55% in about 30 minutes, and Pixelsnap Qi2 wireless charging at 15W. The 6.3-inch Actua panel is rated up to 3000 nits. Android 16 ships with 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates.

WHAT THE £599 PIXEL 10 CARRIED

• The zoom: A 10.8MP 5x telephoto with OIS, the first on a non-Pro Pixel, plus 20x Super Zoom.
• The cell: A 4970mAh battery, 100mAh up on the smaller Pro, with 15W magnetic wireless charging.
• The chip: Tensor G5 on TSMC’s 3nm node, the same SoC as the Pro, with 12GB of RAM.
• The catch on 128GB: That SKU uses UFS 3.1 storage; the 256GB model moves to UFS 4.0.
• The support window: Seven years of updates from Android 16, long enough to outlast the sale price debate.

Buyers who want the Pixel-only camera and AI tools still had a case at £599 that they did not have on older base Pixels, because the zoom lens finally showed up. The 128GB UFS 3.1 limit is the practical reason to look at the £799 256GB listing, not extra megapixels.

A Chip Built for Gemini, Not Geekbench

The sale-week objection was not the zoom. It was Tensor. One reader put it without much manners: “Google tensor is equal to a 5 years old snapdragon chip and those 5 years old phones are sold for like 200 now.” The five-year line is a rant, not a lab result. The gap behind Qualcomm is real.

Google’s own figures are an average 34% faster CPU than Pixel 9 and an up to 60% more powerful TPU. The G5 is made by TSMC on 3nm, after years on Samsung foundries, and it still uses a Cortex-X4 prime core, now at 3.78GHz, with five A725 mids and two A520 efficiency cores. Robert Triggs, testing the finished phones, found those claims roughly in line for CPU, and still far off the leaders.

The G5 also parks a little over 3GB of the base phone’s 12GB RAM on always-loaded AI models, so apps and games share just under 9GB. That is a software choice, not a 9GB SKU, and it is why the Pro’s 16GB feels like the adult pool if you keep Gemini busy. Gaming is the weak room: neither Pixel 10 nor Pixel 10 Pro broke 20fps in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme in one widely cited table, while Snapdragon 8 Elite phones cleared 29fps and up. If you buy a Pixel for maps, photos, and the assistant, the chip is enough. If you buy it to match an S25 Ultra on a bench, £599 does not fix the ranking.

What Happened to Prices After Black Friday?

The 24 November snapshot was not the floor. By 30 November, Amazon UK had the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL 256GB listings at £899, which is £200 off the Pro’s 256GB launch price once coupons stacked, and later December listings put the 128GB Pixel 10 around £547. Shoppers who treated Black Friday as a deadline left money on the table.

The hangover is the part deal roundups skip. Google’s first-holiday Pro hold only works if you need the phone in November. Wait six weeks and the Pro’s “£100 off” story is already stale. Wait until the next August and you are buying last year’s camera against a dearer sequel. The Pixel 10’s India Amazon cut followed the same shape in another currency: the base phone is the SKU Amazon is willing to move, and the Pro is the SKU Google is slower to train buyers to get cheap.

Deal posters on X kept that pattern going into 2026. In July, Amazon UK listings were taking £400 off the Pixel 10 Pro XL, a much harsher trim than anything the Pro saw in November. By then Pixel 11 was weeks away, and leftover G5 stock had a different job.

Pixel 11 Landed With a Higher Starting Price

Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL went up for preorder on 12 August 2026 at $899, $1,099, and $1,299, and they reached shelves on 20 August. Each US ticket is $100 above the Pixel 10 equivalent, and every model now starts at 256GB. The 128GB Pixel 10 that Amazon UK sold for £599 is, in that light, a one-generation oddity: a new zoom phone at a mid-range price, on a chip the benches still punish.

Google’s UK store still listed the Pixel 10 Pro from £899 in October 2026, which is the 128GB Pro at the same £100 off it wore on Black Friday, now as leftover stock beside the sequel. The November 2025 row on Amazon was never a collapse in Pixel pricing. It was Google repeating the Pixel 9 Pro’s first-holiday hold, then letting Amazon do the unglamorous work on the base phone that had just grown a telephoto.

The 128GB Pixel 10 at £599 was the ticket that broke last year’s pattern. The Pro at £100 off was the ticket that kept it, and the weeks after 28 November 2025 were when the Pro finally had to follow.
