High School Athletes Team Up for Heartwarming Promposal in Tennessee

A football field, a poster, and a whole lot of love—that’s all it took for one Tennessee high schooler to create a moment his best friend would never forget.

Jayveion Morgan, a junior at Carter High School in Knoxville, knew he wanted to do something special for his longtime friend Myra Beth. So, he called in some backup. With the help of his football and soccer teammates, Morgan pulled off a surprise promposal that left the entire school buzzing.

More Than Just a Friendship

Morgan and Beth’s bond goes way back. They first met in eighth grade when Morgan volunteered as a peer tutor in the Comprehensive Development Classroom (CDC), a program designed to support students with disabilities. What started as a classroom connection quickly turned into an unbreakable friendship.

Even now, three years later, Morgan continues to work as a peer tutor. And his friendship with Beth? Stronger than ever. So when prom season rolled around, he knew exactly who he wanted as his date.

A Team Effort on the Field

Promposals have become a big deal in high schools across the country, but this one had a special touch. Morgan enlisted his teammates from both the football and soccer teams to help execute his plan.

The big moment happened on Carter High’s football field. Morgan held up a giant, Reese’s chocolate-themed poster board that read: “Myra Beth, I can’t Reeses-st going to prom with you!”

  • The poster was covered in Reese’s peanut butter cups, Beth’s favorite candy.
  • Teammates stood nearby, cheering as she walked onto the field.
  • The moment was captured on video, with students clapping and celebrating as Beth said yes.

Beth’s reaction? Pure joy. She beamed with excitement as she accepted Morgan’s invitation, surrounded by their classmates and teammates who had all come together to make it a moment to remember.

A School and Community Inspired

Word of the promposal spread fast. Teachers, students, and even parents shared the story, praising Morgan for his kindness and dedication to his friend.

“Jayveion is just one of those students who leads with his heart,” said a Carter High faculty member. “He doesn’t do things for attention—he just genuinely cares about people, and this promposal was another example of that.”

The story even caught the attention of local news outlets, with many celebrating it as an example of the kindness and inclusivity that should be encouraged in schools everywhere.

Prom Night Awaits

With the promposal behind them, Morgan and Beth now have one thing left to do: get ready for the big night. Whether it’s picking out outfits, planning their entrance, or simply enjoying the excitement, one thing is clear—this is a night they’ll remember forever.

And thanks to Morgan’s thoughtfulness, it’s already off to a sweet start.
